Florida Foster Families Receive Free Entry to State Parks
July was a good month for foster families and families who adopt special needs children. Starting this month, foster families statewide can enjoy for free any of the state’s 174 state parks. The news is the result of legislation passed and signed by Governor Rick Scott during the during this year’s legislative session.
This is big news for the nearly 13,000 foster children across Florida. Once in, these families can get a 50 percent discount on state park camping fees. The legislation was sponsored by Rep. Larry Lee in the House and Sen. Aaron Bean in the Senate. Families who operate a licensed family foster can receive home free family annual passes, as well as a discount on base campsite fees at Florida state parks.
Families who adopt children with special needs would be eligible to receive a one-time family annual entrance pass to the Florida state parks.
If you’re a foster family interested in taking advantage of the new law, just bring proof of your licensed foster home and identification to any state park. The new law went into effect July 1st.

I am not a licensed foster parent (although I took the class and passed). I am a non-relative caregiver. I will be adopting the 3 children I have been taking care of since April/2016. Is there something for me –that I might experience this benefit with my children?

U have to be a licensed foster even if you adopt they make you take classes n do a home study
